Tito Ron’s Turon Sundae – 4/5 stars
Turon is a famous Filipino dessert made with saba (plantain bananas) and langka (jackfruit) wrapped in delicate lumpia wrappers and fried to a crisp. The resulting delicate little rolls can be served with a topping of brown sugar syrup or something more special, like a sweet coconut sauce.
Tito Ron’s Turon Sundae was awesome, a timely solution to the scorching hot weather. Although, this is Toronto we’re talking about so this hot weather is probably just a phase or a seasonal mood swing. The taste of turons (banana lumpia) complement the ube ice cream very well. The ube pillows were a great addition too! Make sure to get one when you find yourself walking along the streets of August Ave.

Kevin’s Taiyaki – 5/5 stars
Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shaped cake. The most common filling is red bean paste that is made from sweetened azuki beans.
I would write a thousand recommendations/ads for Kevin’s Taiyaki if I could. I just love the taste of freshly-cooked taiyaki. I recommended getting a box of Taiyaki with assorted flavors/fillings. They have red-bean, green-bean, black-bean, and custard. I’ve tasted everything except for black bean, and I just could not get enough of the red-bean.

Custard-filled Crepe at One-hour Cafe – 3.5/5 stars
I’ll probably write a separate review for One-Hour Cafe once I get to schedule another visit. One-Hour Cafe is a chinese tea house, so you’ll find yourself ordering light snacks – noodles, tea, and desserts. The interior is gorgeous. From the comfortable bean bags to the cool-looking glasses, this place has one of the best (kind of minimalist too) designs I’ve seen. It’s also surprisingly spacious, and with its quiet and relaxing atmosphere, this place is perfect as a study spot for students.
Oops, I almost forgot to talk about the crepe. Well, to be honest, I think it needed more custard. Plus points for the strawberry though.

Smoke’s Poutinerie: Bacon Cheeseburger Poutine – 3/5 stars
I needed something to bring home, and this place was just a block away from my apartment. I ordered Bacon Cheeseburger which was a little too salty for my taste (huh, you don’t say, J. Must be the bacon). Tip: Share (both payment and food) with a friend to avoid disappointment.
